LinkedIn profile optimization in brief

What is LinkedIn Profile Optimization?
A single, complete rebuild of the one page every prospect opens before they reply, delivered as a finished profile, not a list of suggestions.
Who is this for?
Founders and consultants; Senior professionals in transition; Anyone with inbound but poor conversion; Speakers and authors.
What does the engagement include?
Baseline review, how your profile currently reads to a buyer, what appears above the fold on mobile, and which sections are costing you messages.; Headline rewrite, a headline written for the person you want to reach, carrying your actual category and offer rather than only your job title.; About section, a structured summary answering what you solve, who you solve it for, the evidence behind it, and how to start a conversation.; Experience narrative, your roles rewritten as a coherent story of increasing scope, not a copy-paste of job descriptions.; Featured and media section, selection and ordering of the three to five assets that demonstrate your thinking first.; Keywords and search, natural integration of the terms your buyers actually type into LinkedIn and Google, without keyword stuffing.; Visual pass, banner, headshot guidance, and the section order that determines what a visitor sees in the first second.; Before/after document, the original and final profile with annotations explaining every change, so you can apply the same logic later..
How long does it take?
8–10 working days from kickoff call to delivered final profile, including one revision round.
What does it cost, and how is it priced?
Quoted in writing after the audit. Price follows scope: how many people the narrative has to cover, how many surfaces need rebuilding, and how much drafting Elvare does compared with your own team. There is no public rate card, because a single profile rebuild and a multi-principal programme are not comparable products.
Where is it delivered?
Remote-first across India in IST working hours, with optional in-person working sessions where they materially improve the outcome. Every deliverable is written, so approval never depends on being in a meeting.

What you get

The engagement, item by item

Every deliverable is written down before work starts, so scope disputes have somewhere to go.

  • Baseline review, how your profile currently reads to a buyer, what appears above the fold on mobile, and which sections are costing you messages.
  • Headline rewrite, a headline written for the person you want to reach, carrying your actual category and offer rather than only your job title.
  • About section, a structured summary answering what you solve, who you solve it for, the evidence behind it, and how to start a conversation.
  • Experience narrative, your roles rewritten as a coherent story of increasing scope, not a copy-paste of job descriptions.
  • Featured and media section, selection and ordering of the three to five assets that demonstrate your thinking first.
  • Keywords and search, natural integration of the terms your buyers actually type into LinkedIn and Google, without keyword stuffing.
  • Visual pass, banner, headshot guidance, and the section order that determines what a visitor sees in the first second.
  • Before/after document, the original and final profile with annotations explaining every change, so you can apply the same logic later.

Why this page matters more than your website

When someone hears about you (from a post, a referral, a podcast, a conference) they do one thing before they decide whether to reply.

They open your LinkedIn profile.

It happens in under five seconds, almost always on a phone, and the decision being made is not “is this person accomplished” but “is this person relevant to me, and is replying worth the effort?” Most profiles fail the second half of that question. They are written as records of a career rather than invitations to a conversation.

This engagement fixes that, once, properly.

What you receive

A finished profile, not advice.

Headline. The single most-read line on LinkedIn. Yours will state who you help and what with, while still carrying your actual title where that matters. It will not be a list of emoji-separated keywords.

About section. Structured in the order a reader actually needs the information:

  1. The problem you solve, in the reader’s language
  2. Who you solve it for, specifically
  3. Why you are credible, real evidence, not adjectives
  4. How you work
  5. A clear, low-friction way to start a conversation

Experience narrative. Each role written to show increasing scope and the through-line of your career. Hiring managers, buyers and journalists all read this section differently; we write for the primary reader you identify in the kickoff call.

Featured section. Three to five assets, ordered so the strongest demonstration of your thinking appears first, usually an article, a talk, a case document you are permitted to share, or a service page.

Keywords. The terms your buyers type, integrated where they read naturally. We research what currently ranks for your name and your category before writing, rather than guessing.

Visual pass. Banner, headshot direction, section ordering and the mobile above-the-fold view, which is where 80%+ of profile views land.

Before/after document. Every change annotated with the reasoning, so the logic survives the next time you update it.

The before/after difference

ElementTypical profileAfter this engagement
HeadlineJob title + companyWho you help, what with, and the category you own
AboutThird-person résumé summaryBuyer-ordered narrative ending in a clear next step
ExperienceBullet lists of responsibilitiesEvidence of scope and the story of your expertise
FeaturedEmpty or a company postDeliberate sequence demonstrating your thinking

What this is not for

  • Ongoing publishing. This rebuilds the destination; it does not produce the traffic. That is LinkedIn personal branding.
  • Job-search positioning. Recruiter-facing profiles optimise for a different reader, a hiring manager scanning for role fit. Tell us if that is your goal in the kickoff call and we will write for it, but it is a different brief.
  • Inflating experience. We write what is true, more clearly. We will not add credentials, titles, client names or results you do not have.

What we need from you

  • A 45-minute kickoff call
  • Your current profile (export or screenshot)
  • A CV or a short written history of your roles
  • Any document containing language clients actually use about you, proposals, testimonials, win notes. This is the most valuable input and the one clients most often skip.

How we measure

For a one-off engagement the honest measure is a before/after comparison, taken 60–90 days after the change:

  • Profile views per week
  • Search appearances for your name and category terms
  • Inbound connection-request and message quality
  • The percentage of your profile viewers who reach the top of the About section (available in LinkedIn’s own analytics)

Elvare does not predict a percentage lift. Anyone quoting a specific uplift from a headline change without having measured it is estimating, and we prefer to report what you observe.

Fit

How to tell whether this is the right engagement

Most of the value of a consulting relationship is decided before it starts. These are the questions we ask ourselves on a discovery call.

Good fit
  • You have genuine expertise or a real body of work to build on.
  • You can give at least one hour a month of senior attention.
  • You want a position you can defend, not maximum reach.
  • You are willing to measure honestly, including the misses.
Poor fit
  • You need guaranteed rankings, leads or follower counts.
  • The plan depends on engagement pods or undisclosed promotion.
  • There is no capacity to publish anything consistently.
  • You are looking for a substitute for product-market fit.

Questions

LinkedIn Profile Optimization, frequently asked

How is this different from a template or a checklist?
A checklist tells you to "write a compelling headline". This engagement produces the headline, the About section, the experience narrative and the featured selection, written from an interview about your actual work. Templates fail because the hard part is not knowing which sections matter; it is knowing what to say in them. Two consultants with identical job titles need completely different copy, and no template can decide that.
Do you edit my profile directly, or send me the text?
You choose. The default is a document with the final copy for each section, ready to paste, plus the annotations. Some clients prefer that we work inside their account under their supervision. We do not take custody of login credentials without an explicit arrangement, and we never make changes without your review.
Will changing my headline affect how I appear in search?
Yes, both in LinkedIn's own search and in Google results for your name, because your profile is public and indexable by default. We treat the headline and About section as your highest-value real estate for that reason. We do not promise a specific ranking, and we avoid aggressive keyword stuffing, which makes a profile read badly to humans and is increasingly ineffective for machines as well.
What do you need from me?
A 45-minute kickoff call, a copy of your current profile, and either a CV or a short written history of your roles. If you have testimonials, proposals that were won, or any document that describes what clients say about you, send those too, the language buyers use is the best source for your copy. We do not need access to your account unless you want us to work in it.
Can this be combined with content work?
It is usually the right first step before any content programme, because a strong profile converts the traffic that content sends. Many clients start here, then decide whether to continue into [LinkedIn personal branding](/services/linkedin-personal-branding/) once they see the enquiry quality change. The profile work is not conditional on continuing.
